The river Nar flows out of the lakes through the 5 acre woodland garden with its large variety of rhododendrons, azaleas, camellias, magnolias and candelabra primulas which are at their peak at this season. There are also numerous fine trees. A small pond is surrounded by moisture loving plants.
The Victorian summerhouse has a thatched roof of Norfolk reed and the “Gothic” window and door design reflects the style found in the ruins of two other summerhouses on the other side of the river. Elsewhere in the garden the borders are full of early flowering trees, shrubs, perennials and bulbs.
