Summer is the peak season in the estate’s gardens. All the borders, both formal and informal, are at their finest, the roses are in full bloom, and the kitchen garden is at maximum production.
One of the garden’s most distinctive features is Rosehenge – an aged cherry tree encircled by oak posts, which support the rambling rose variety ‘Rambling Rector’. In summer, the rose creates a spectacular display around the weathered tree, making Rosehenge a particularly memorable feature of the garden.
The gardens showcase unusual specimens adapted to Norfolk’s climate, including dregea sinensis, abeliophyllum distichum, colquhonia coccinea vestita, lespedeza thunbergii, and indigofera amblyantha.
Specific rose varieties include rosa forrestiana, rosa omiensis pteracantha, and rosa complicata.
